Your Personal Safety
We want you to feel safe on all of your journeys with us. Here are the supports in place for you:
- Help Intercoms – On Tram (talk to the Driver) and On Stop (talk with Luas Control Centre)
- CCTV –On Tram and On Stop
- Staff* – Drivers, Luas Security and Revenue Protection
- TFI Customer Service* – 0818 294 015, TFI Webform, Message @Luas Facebook or Message @Luas X
- Emergency Services – Always call 999 / 112 in emergency and safety-related incidents.
* TFI Customer Service hours are Monday to Friday 7am – 7pm; Saturday 8am – 6pm, and Sundays and Bank Holidays 10am – 6pm.* Luas staff and Luas Security are not present on all trams. Emergency Help Intercoms are located beside tram doors and at all Luas stops.
Anti-social behaviours reports
If you see anti-social behaviour on board Luas or at a Luas platform, you can report it in three ways:
- Luas Text SMS Service
- Luas App by using the “Report” function.
- Luas WhatsApp messaging service
Full instructions on how to use each of these are listed below.
Luas Text SMS Service
- Text the keyword “LUAS”to 51444, along with with the tram number, your location and your report of anti-social behaviour.
- It is important that you use the keyword “LUAS”, as the text number 51444 is a shared text service using “LUAS” means that the text is directed to us.
- You should receive confirmation that your message has been received.

Luas App
- The Luas App available for free on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store.
- Open the App and click ‘Report’ located on the bottom right of the screen. It has a triangle icon with an exclamation above it.
- Add the details of what you see and hear in the box.
- Click ‘Next’ when you are finished.
- You will be asked to confirm your location.
- You should then receive confirmation that your message has been received.
- This is a free service.
Luas WhatsApp Messaging Service
- Open WhatsApp on your mobile phone (or download from Apple App and Google Play stores)
- Add Luas 087 055 5715 to your Contacts
- Message “Hi” to start the conversation.
- Follow the prompts and report the incident.
- Type “Menu” at any stage to go back to the main menu.
- You will receive a final confirmation message that your report has been received.
- This is a free service.
Emergency Help Intercom
You can use the Emergency Help Intercom located :
- at the Ticket Vending Machine on the platform ; your call will be answered by Luas Control Centre
- beside the door on the trams ; You will be able to speak directly with the Driver

- Wait for an answer and explain the situation
CCTV
For the safety and security of our passengers, CCTV operates throughout the Luas network, including on trams and at stops.
If you are involved in or witness an incident, it is important to report it as soon as possible. CCTV footage may be requested by An Garda Síochána to assist with investigations.
To help us identify the relevant footage, please provide as much information as possible, including the stop name, date, time, and, where available, the tram number.
All CCTV footage is managed and released in accordance with applicable data protection legislation and established privacy and security procedures.
Staff
If you need assistance while travelling on Luas, help is available from staff both on board trams and at Luas stops.
For your safety and security, Luas Security personnel and Customer Agents are deployed across the network, both on trams and at stops. If you experience or witness an incident, please speak to a member of staff who will be happy to assist you.
In an emergency, you can contact the tram driver by using the Emergency Help Intercom located beside the tram doors. Please use this facility only when necessary, as misuse may result in a penalty.
TFI Customer Service
Talk with TFI Customer Service :
- Monday to Friday from 7am to 7pm,
- Saturdays from 8am to 6pm,
- Sundays and Bank Holidays from 10am to 6pm.
There is an answer machine service for out of hours. You can also contact us by filling in a TFI Webform
Emergency Services
In the event of an emergency, please call the emergency services on 999 or 112.
